A Bold, Experiential Fall Wedding at Moxy Williamsburg

Have you ever met people that just feel effortlessly cool? That’s Emalee and Walker. When they came to me to plan their wedding, they told me they wanted something intentional, unique, and most of all- iconic. Their exact words were “a party for the ages”. I loved their approach to wedding planning. Each part of the day needed to feel intentional and special. Even though the ceremony is the shortest part of the day, they wanted it to be the main focus of the festivities. Although we toured a number of venues, they immediately fell in love with Moxy Williamsburg for their wedding. Not only was it a great match aesthetically, but they loved the idea of each part of the day having its own unique setting.

We started off on Lillistar, Moxy’s rooftop bar.

Their ceremony was set up on the rooftop facing the New York City skyline. We timed it with the most perfect golden sunset, and let the city speak for itself with accents of flowers. Emalee is Thai, and it was important to them to incorporate a Thai blessing ceremony called Phai Pu Can. During this blessing, guests extended their hands forward to touch the shoulders of the people in front of them, all the way up to the couple themselves. This let everyone be physically connected in blessing them in their marriage. Music is a huge part of their lives, so we also made sure each part of the day had special musical moments. Rebel Strings played harp and violin throughout the ceremony for a truly ethereal moment.

After they said “I do”, everyone came inside Lillistar for cocktails and enjoyed the rest of sunset. On their first date, Walker had packed a cooler with all the fixings for a French 75- so they chose to incorporate this touch as their specialty cocktail. DJ Allison mixed live for them during cocktail hour as guests mingled before we kicked off a few speeches from loved ones. Before we knew it, it was time to head downstairs for their dinner reception.

On the ground floor of Moxy, their flagship restaurant, Mesiba, held dinner for all of Emalee and Walker’s guests. The space is naturally gorgeous, so we really leaned into the existing aesthetic to tie everything together. Luxe linens, statement florals in earth tones, and tons of candlelight elevated the space for an intimate dinner party. Food was served family style and consisted of delicious Mediterranean specialties.

Perhaps my favorite part of Moxy is their sound room, Jolene.

It’s hidden behind Mesiba, but turns into the most epic night club setting once the lights go down. Following dinner, Rebel Strings came back with their electric violins and guided guests to the secret club for dancing. DJ Allison Kinney came back to keep the party going and it’s safe to say it was a rager. Between the glow of the interactive marquee lights and the electric violins, the room was filled with a rainbow of color. The party didn’t stop there though. For guests who wanted to continue the fun, they were instructed to go change into gold and meet back downstairs to board a bus to House of Yes. The Onyx Room housed custom performances and a sea of gold until the wee hours of the night.

Every part of their day was full of so much thought and everyone could feel the love from all sides. It was absolutely a night to remember for a couple that just radiates the coolest vibes. It was a true honor to plan their Moxy Williamsburg wedding. Congratulations Emalee and Walker!
