Every so often, we get the opportunity to pop outside the city and create magic outside the 5 boroughs. For Val and Derek, they wanted somewhere with water views, gorgeous scenery, and lots of space to entertain guests. After lots of scouting, we landed on Breeze Hill Farm. The orchard setting was perfect for them and allowed us to have unique backdrops for their welcome party, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and after party. Their celebration took place on a breezy August day and was such a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle.
Guest experience was top of mind for Val and Derek, so the first thing we sorted out was making sure there was a smooth flow. The night before, we had a beautiful welcome party in the private orchard behind the reception tent. We even had apple cider donuts fresh from the farm to end the night! For the wedding day, we had welcome drinks and transportation ready for guests to head to the bluff for their waterfront ceremony. When guests got off the shuttles, we had a water and sparkling wine station ready for them to help stay cool in the summer sun. They had a modern Jewish ceremony, and we brought in tons of bright, warm colors to brighten up the chuppah and ceremony area.
After the ceremony wrapped, we shuttled guests back to the front entrance where we had cocktail hour set up. There were stations, passed apps, and passed drinks flowing to keep everyone hydrated and fed before the formal reception. Meanwhile, we put together the finishing touches in the reception tent. We brought in a gorgeous sailcloth tent with wood flooring to set the tone for the night. Although we were on a farm, Val and Derek wanted the day to still feel luxurious. We brought in natural linen, seasonal flowers, lots of greenery, and a gorgeous rattan lantern installation above the dance floor. Val’s sister designed their paper goods, including signage and menus to greet guests. The statement piece of the reception was a large wood circular bar, which was constantly flowing throughout the night.
Music was important to Derek and Val, so we had special music moments for each part of the day. We brought in Andrew Gabriel to play guitar for both ceremony and cocktail hour. Once everyone entered the tent, we transitioned to DJ Allison Kinney- who actually worked with Val for their day jobs! After dinner, Rebel Strings joined the dance floor with electric violin and danced with guests while playing. This was a huge hit and everyone loved watching the glowing violin throughout the dance floor. To wrap up the reception, we brought in a delicious dairy free cake from Rolling Pin Bakery.
Of course, the party didn’t stop in the tent. We set up the hanger on site as the after party and guests who wanted to continue celebrating danced until late night there. Shuttles were ready both at the end of the reception and the end of the after party to bring guests to their nearby hotels.
It was such a joy getting to celebrate this sweet couple. The day was full of love and laughter and so much intention. Congratulations Val and Derek!
