One thing I will always preach as a wedding planner is to be true to you, and that’s exactly what Claire and Austin did for their gorgeous wedding at Dobbin St in Brooklyn. Instead of getting ready with a wedding party, they opted to get ready together. Enjoying cocktail hour was a big priority for them, so we got all of their photos done before the wedding started. They weren’t into the idea of a long, involved ceremony. Instead, they opted for a short and sweet ceremony officiated by their close friend. The whole day they wanted to be together rather than apart, and they even entered their ceremony side by side.
As we went into the reception, they skipped on the traditional formalities and dances, with the exception of a few speeches from their close friends and family. And in lieu of a wedding cake, they brought in one of their favorite desserts- pineapple buns. A must try if you’ve never had the joy of having one!
When it came to the decor of the day, they wanted things to feel relaxed and true to them. One of my favorite things they incorporated were in their place settings. Instead of renting their dishes, they went to Target and grabbed sets of dishes for $0.50 a piece! They mixed and matched 3 colors (blush, grey, and green) and made a color block pattern on each table. I LOVED the pops of color and the fact that they could keep the dishes, donate, or sell them after. They even handmade their table numbers, menus, and favors. Rosehip Floral came in with gorgeous dried florals that tied it all together perfectly.
Claire and Austin were so sweet and so full of love for one another. I loved getting to be a part of a day so personal to them and so inherently “them”. A big shout out to all of the incredible vendors that made this beautiful day at Dobbin St Brooklyn possible!
