A Romantic, Classic NYC Wedding at the Harold Pratt House

I love how when people say they want a “Classic New York” vibe, you immediately can picture it. Ivy and AJ met and fell in love in New York. I loved that they wanted their wedding to feel like a love letter to the city. The romance, the drama, the hustle- everything that just feels New York. It was so much fun getting to help them write their story for their Harold Pratt House wedding.

When they found me, they had already booked Harold Pratt House. It’s a gorgeous Upper East Side mansion with that classic New York architecture. To set the tone, they had invitations modeled after vintage New Yorker illustrations. The venue has lots of wood and marble accents, so they chose to bring in pops of red and pink to emphasize that whimsical, love letter vibe. They chose to get ready at the Lowell hotel nearby, and even grabbed a copy of that morning’s New York Times to commemorate the day. After getting ready, AJ and Ivy did their first look outside the mansion before walking to Central Park for portraits. They explored the park before hailing a cab back just in time for the ceremony.

Harold Pratt House is a historic landmark, and every room is full of charm. We had a lot of fun mapping out the day to make the best use of all the spaces. First, we had their ceremony downstairs. A beautiful string quartet from Iconiq strings accompanied Ivy and AJ down the aisle before saying “I do” in front of their friends and families. Then, we invited everyone upstairs into the library for cocktails and appetizers. To continue the New York love letter theme, we had a jazz trio setting the tone. Finally, everyone moved across the hall for dinner in the ballroom. The interiors of the Harold Pratt House are so beautiful, so we opted to have small, intentional statement blooms on the tables. I loved their table numbers, which were modeled after playing cards with their initials.

Finally, it was time to dance. Downstairs, the ceremony room was flipped to the coolest Upper East Side house party. The full space was opened up and half the room was dancing, while the other half served as a lounge for guests who preferred a little more quiet. We loved working with Majestic Photo Booth to bring in a classic booth that matched the feel of the mansion. They cut a beautiful vintage cake before dancing the night away with all of their loved ones.

Ivy and AJ are a dream and it was an honor to work with them to bring their vision to life. Congratulations love birds!
