Whenever I have a new couple sign on with me, I send them my infamous questionnaire to get to know them more. One of my favorite questions I ask is “When you think about your wedding day, what 3 words come to mind?” After Emily and Kyle signed on with me, they answered with the following: “cool, dancey, relaxed.” And I think we really captured that! Every part of their Rule of Thirds wedding felt cool while still being laid back- including a dance floor that was POPPING.

One of the very first emails I remember getting from Emily was “We need disco balls. How do we do that?”

Music to my ears.

We worked with ULS to design a disco ball installation under the skylight and above the dance floor- which really set the tone for the rest of the day. From there, we were working with a monochromatic red color palette and bringing in as much fun and cool energy as possible. They were very clear that they didn’t want anything fussy, but still wanted it to be elevated. For their ceremony backdrop, we opted for 2 columns with juicy red flowers dripping off and flowing to the ground. The bright red popped so nicely against the neutral wood tones of the venue. Janice at Joi Blooms did such a great job balancing the fun pops while feeling elevated. After they said “I do”, guests headed into cocktail hour where they chose to add on a sake tasting station. This table was packed the entire hour!

For dinner, Kyle and Emily opted to rent linens for the tables and have bright pops of red scattered in the flowers. Disco ball table numbers tied in the mirror balls from the other space. And of course, the yummiest food served family style kept everyone full and ready to hit the dance floor.

They both loved a little touch of retro vibes.

We worked with Velvet Valley for a gorgeous lambeth cake with bright red cherry accents. A physical photo booth was a must. Majestic Photo Booth came in clutch with the perfect retro booth for guests to enjoy all night long! At the bars, custom cocktail signs with their cat illustrated on them were a huge hit. One of my favorite touches were the custom t shirt prizes they gave out to guests who had traveled the farthest.

DJ Mariko kept the dance floor packed as everyone danced the night away under the glittering lights. I had so much fun working with Emily and Kyle and bringing their dream day to life. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
