Jordan and Calvin feel like your favorite lead characters from your favorite book that you simply cannot wait to reread. They are sweet, kind, ridiculously in love, and pure joy. On what would otherwise be another chilly winter day in NYC, Jordan and Calvin brought warmth and love with their intimate Skylark wedding. Let’s dive in!
A New York Love Story
The two opted for an intimate wedding at The Skylark after spending their 8 year relationship in NYC. They were SO excited to share their favorite city in the world with the people they loved most. With a guest count of 40, they wanted every guest to feel spoiled and appreciated. They wanted NYC to feel like an invited guest to the wedding, showcasing the city beyond the walls of the space. As avid book lovers, they drew inspiration from The New York Public Library- but with a chic twist. Themed drink titles, bookmark guest favors, a book title seating chart, book cover table numbers, and plot-centric ceremony programs are just a few bibliophile-curated details that pulled it all together.
Classic with a Twist
The Skylark space featured gold mod-style light fixtures, colorful works of art, and black glossy subway tile, embracing classic NYC style. The couple let these details direct their color palette. They incorporated black and white for a timeless and chic feel, while adding red, fuchsia, and pink to bring vibrancy into the space and reflect their quirky and fun personalities. Jordan & Calvin’s intimate evening gathered their friends and family around a community-style banquet table peppered with candles to set the tone. Their seating arrangements was also well thought out! As Jordan told me, “ Instead of separating everyone by tables according to how we knew them, we got to seat folks next to who we have always wanted them to meet.”
In keeping with one of their favorite traditions, they made time to walk over to the library for portraits. If you’ve ever been around the library on a weekend, you’ll see a few couples taking portraits. Usually there is even some tourist paparazzi cheering them on. Jordan and Calvin have always loved getting to see these nearlyweds on their visits. They were so excited to join in on the tradition themselves. Another tradition they kept was jumping the broom. After their ceremony, they privately jumped the broom together to symbolize them starting a new chapter.
It was such a joy getting to work with Jordan and Calvin and to bring this gorgeous day to fruition. Congratulations to the happy couple, and wishing you a lifetime of happiness!
