Planning any couple’s wedding is always an honor, but getting to plan the wedding for two close friends? That’s just so special. I’ve known Emily and David since high school, and we’ve remained close ever since. So when Emily and David told me they wanted me to plan their wedding, I jumped on board right away.
Their requests were simple: burgundy and blush, classic, romantic, and lots of fun. Throughout their 2 year engagement, we worked together to hone in their personal aesthetic and create the perfect winter romance, even in South Florida. Although they wanted classic, they were clear to say they didn’t mean traditional. We dreamed up a gorgeous circular backdrop for their ceremony. Then we designed tall layered centerpieces throughout the reception to create depth and a twist on classic pieces.
As an NYC wedding planner, I always encourage my couples to find ways to make their wedding day truly “them”. We incorporated a lot of special music into their playlists. “Precious Love” by James Morrison was a nod to their love for Schitt’s Creek as they walked out of the ceremony.
Planning a wedding during COVID is no easy feat, but we were able to adapt quickly to changing regulations and a decreased guest count just days before the wedding. From the beginning, Emily and David made it clear that their top priority was just to get married. I may be biased, but I think it’s safe to say that their wedding day was still perfect.
I’m still so honored to have been a part of their special day and celebrate with them. Congratulations Emily and David!
