New York City is one of those places that just feels serendipitous in the most random ways. Caro and Katlyn first reached out to me because they saw me mentioned in a neighborhood Facebook group. Someone was asking what the best wedding planner was (like a book, not a person), and someone else misunderstood and threw my name out. Katlyn and Caro saw this, thought it was funny, and looked me up. Immediately, they felt like we would vibe. The rest was history! It was such a joy getting to work with them both for their Prospect Park Boathouse wedding.
Hand Designed Paper Goods
One of the first things I’d like to mention is that Caro designed all of their wedding day details herself. The invitations, menus, and matchbooks were all hand drawn/designed from scratch. I’ve seen a lot of paper goods, and the level of detail she put into these was SO GOOD. Despite an ironic fear of birds, Caro incorporated a swan motif to nod to the swans that frequent the Boathouse. The color palette and vintage detailing were so romantic and elegant.
Guest Experience
Guest experience was super important for the brides, so they had a lot of personal touches throughout the day. Guests found their seats via vintage botanic postcards that had a handwritten thank you note on the back along with their name and table number. Since their wedding took place on the most iconic Saturday in September, they had matchbooks and t shirts with the famous Earth, Wind, and Fire lyrics. They share a love for the New York Times crossword, so they had both wedding newspaper programs and a live custom crossword puzzle for guests to fill out.
Say That You Remember Dancing in September
After a beautiful ceremony on the water, everyone danced the night away with DJ Mariko to what can only be described as “Pink Pilates Princess Roller Skating Pop” jams (if you know, you know). In lieu of a bouquet toss, Katlyn tossed out custom t shirts to guests from the staircase. An epic move in my book. Everyone had the BEST time, and it was so much fun getting to celebrate these two gorgeous brides. Congratulations Caro and Katlyn!
