On a magical snowy Saturday in January, we got to bring Jules and David’s wedding day to life. David and Jules came to me about four months prior to their wedding with just a venue. So we quickly pulled together the dream team to execute their gorgeous day. With so many thoughtful details and the most picturesque NYC snow, it was a day I won’t soon forget. Let’s dive in to this Explorers Club wedding!
A Sentimental Venue
About 30 years ago, Jules’ parents got married in New York City at the Explorers Club. So when it came time for Jules to plan her own wedding, it felt kismet to utilize the same space. Much of the club is still in tact from 30 years ago, and is full of so much charm! The venue has tons of cool animal and travel related decor, so we kept their wedding decor fairly simple in order to let the beauty of the space shine. To tie in the antiqued feel of the space, we used vintage ginger jars rented from Borrowed Blu as the floral vessels. Winter white and evergreen were the main colors to accent all of the gorgeous wood details of the Explorers Club.
Personal Touches
One of my favorite parts of planning weddings is to find ways to infuse the couple into the design. We worked with designer Rachel Zuch to design a custom toile print with nods to some of their favorite places, memories, and, of course, their pup, Peaches. We used this print on their escort cards, welcome sign, and cocktail napkins. It played so well off of the antique ginger jars! On the tables, we brought in photos from Jules’ parents’ wedding. It was so sweet getting to see photos of her parents in the same space. Jules also is known for her baking, so she baked “Peaches” shaped cookies for guests to enjoy!
In addition to having a very personal design, David and Jules wanted guests to truly enjoy themselves. We brought in Boat Band for the ceremony and cocktail hour to serenade guests with some smooth Jazz, which everyone loved. We also utilized Rae Gonzalez, who drew portraits of guests throughout the evening to take home. To top everything off, David and Jules brought in ice cream cake, their favorite dessert, for everyone to enjoy. It was a massive hit.
This Explorers Club wedding was so personal and beautiful, and I loved getting to help bring Jules and David’s vision to life. Congratulations you two!
