501 Union Wedding by NYC Wedding Planner, Poppy + Lynn

As an NYC wedding planner, I feel very lucky to get to work with the coolest couples in the city. When I first met Jenna and Daniel, we instantly clicked. Fellow theater lovers, we both had a great appreciation for the dramatic and for tearing up a dance floor. They had their hearts set on a moody, industrial wedding over Valentine’s weekend, so naturally, 501 Union was the perfect setting.

We were on a bit of a shorter time frame when planning- 7 months to be exact.

Luckily, there is no shortage of great vendors here in the city. We were able to put together the absolute dream team for their day. Jenna and Daniel’s top priority was hospitality for their guests and making sure they were well taken care of and having a blast. Jillicious Foods was the perfect fit to match this cozy, yet high touch atmosphere they craved. For dessert, Blair from Velvet Valley created the most beautiful, and appropriately shaped, wedding cake for the newlyweds.

The assignment was moody, gothic, and romantic.

Olivia of Olivia Howard Designs created a gorgeous floral design that brought all of these elements together and also tied in the natural beauty of the space. I absolutely loved the greenery installation we crafted on the skylight above the dance floor. The way the disco ball shined through the leaves was stunning! Jenna created their paper goods that carried from invitations all the way through menus and bar signs.

As predicted, the dance floor was packed all night. We love working with Michael McGarril for fusion saxophone entertainment. He was actively in the crowd playing alongside the DJ and keeping everyone on their feet! My favorite touch of the day were the large “Emmie” cut outs they had made of their fur baby so that she could also be part of the fun. Everyone had such a great time celebrating this awesome couple.
