When you take a stroll through Williamsburg, it’s hard to miss the iconic Wythe Hotel. I was so excited to work with Melanie and Peter on their colorful wedding day at this epic venue! They had such a fun vision and the space was such a perfect canvas.
In our initial chats, a few things were clear. They wanted to mix their Greek and Jewish heritages throughout the day. Although it was Fall, they loved tropical vibes and wanted to bring a little warmth to a cool November day. I always ask my clients to tell me 3 words that they want to use as a basis for the design. Melanie and Peter said “fun, authentic (to us), and creative”. This was music to my ears! We immediately got to work on pulling together elements to make this happen.
They both love color, and were clear to tell me that this did not include pastels. So, we used bright, warm tones that felt both tropical but not completely out of place for November. Bold, tropical flowers really brought the vision to life and were accented by warm wood details and the natural greenery and foliage from the Wythe Hotel. We also brought in fresh fruit to accent the table design which felt both lush and warm for fall, but also tropical and reminiscent of a beach-side cocktail straight out of a coconut.
One of my favorite touches of the day was having a silent film playing inside during dancing. They bonded over a shared love of silent films, so for guests that didn’t want to hit the dance floor, they could watch a film inside the main space. It was a small but sweet touch and I loved the sentimental, yet practical detail!
Melanie and Peter were such a joy to work with, and we had the best time celebrating their love. Congratulations love birds!
