From the moment I met Hannah and Sam, I knew their day would just exude joy. These two are some of the kindest, bubbliest, most infectiously wonderful people I have ever met. They had been together for about 7 years when they first reached out to me, and they were just so comfortable with each other. It’s rare to find people that you instantly click with so well. I knew that they were going to become not just clients, but good friends. Their whimsical fall wedding at Current at Pier 60 was definitely a highlight of the year.
One of the first things Hannah and Sam told me when we started talking weddings was “We want color.” And not just any colors- vibrant, peppy, fun colors! Sam came to me with a long list of flower types he loved and screenshots of flower magazines. I knew we were in for a fun ride. Olivia Howard was the PERFECT fit for them, and she brought the most gorgeous, fluffy flowers into their fall wedding. For a brief moment, it felt like spring had come back in NYC.
As you may know by this point, I find it so important to bring in personal touches to your wedding.
Hannah is infamous for her hand lettering, so she personally wrote every place card in water color. They turned out so beautifully, and Olivia Howard added mini bouquets to each one for guests to bring a little more color to their seat. Hannah and Sam also love trying out new cocktails, so we knew the signature drinks would be a hit. Sam always ends up with a pink drink in his hand, so his drink naturally had to be pink. Another detail I loved was their intermezzo course, served on the dance floor. Lemons had a special meaning in their relationship, so we incorporate lemon granitas as a little nod while guests danced the night away.
It’s absolutely crucial to have a great support system on your wedding day. Hannah and Sam’s families were both so sweet and loving. Their parent dances were some of my favorites I’ve ever seen. Both of them opted for a fun, personality filled dance that really showed their relationships. Hannah’s dad even custom made a leather jacket prop to match the lyrics of the song! It was hysterical and heartwarming.
The rest of the evening was filled with 2000’s throwbacks, Broadway jams, and pop hits by the insanely talented Allison Kinney. The dance floor was packed, hearts were full, and the joy in the room was truly infectious. It was such an incredible day and I am so happy I got to help create it. Congratulations Hannah and Sam!!
