There are certain people you may come across that just feel like sunshine bottled up- and that is Elyse and Mark to a tee. They came to me off the referral of their friends’ wedding a few years back which is always a big green flag. I hate to brag, but Poppy + Lynn couples are the coolest couples. Together, we got to plan the most gorgeous, spring wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It truly felt like an explosion of color, flowers, and love.
From the very beginning, Elyse told me her top priority was flowers.
It was a no-brainer to select Brooklyn Botanic Garden as the backdrop, especially during spring. We looked at past years to try to nail down a date where the cherry blossoms would be in bloom, and we lucked out with the last weekend before they fell. With that in mind, we really wanted to honor the garden during peak spring throughout the design. Soft spring pastels took over the color palette, and floral patterns were brought in to the linens and paper goods. Olivia Howard created gorgeous, overflowing flowers throughout each part of the day. My personal favorite moment were the climbing florals inside the Palm House to bring your eye up.
Whimsical watercolor art really spoke to Mark and Elyse.
We worked with Rachel Zuch to illustrate the most beautiful details for guests throughout the day. Guests got a peek of what was to come with Palm House dye cut invitations that literally opened up to the details. Once they arrived on the day, there were programs with illustrated maps of the garden waiting at the ceremony. We kept the theme going with illustrated bar signage, table numbers, and seating chart. My favorite touch, however, were the custom dye cut menus shaped like peonies that doubled as place cards and menus. Every touch point of the day had intentional art and felt so personal and elevated.
Live music was Mark’s top priority, so it was a no-brainer to work with Aragon Artists for a top tier performance. They had a choreographed first dance that left the room in tears before opening up the dance floor for everyone to join. For anyone who needed a break from the dancing, we designed a few lounge groupings to rest their feet along with a gorgeous photo booth from Flux Photobooth.
The whole day was filled with so much love, laughter, and joy from all ends. I knew from working with them for over a year, but you can instantly tell how loved Mark and Elyse are from the energy in the room. It was an absolutely stunning day for the most charming couple. Congratulations Mark and Elyse!
