One thing I love about living in NYC is that I am surrounded by the most talented people imaginable. Creativity is bursting through my veins, and I can call on 100 different people at any given moment that can help me bring my wildest dreams to life. The vision for this Brooklyn elopement editorial came to me months ago, after getting inspiration for another wedding actually. I was drawn to old Broadway posters, can can girls, and art nouveau inspired champagne ads. I loved the delicate nature of art nouveau, yet the loud, dramatic, playful edge it had. Women looked like goddesses (as they should), and the muted colors felt so impactful. I knew I had to bring this vision to life, and eventually the opportunity presented itself.

The Venue

As with most great stories, we start with the where. I’ve had my eye on Atrium 82 for a while now. This intimate event space is located in Brooklyn and has natural light for DAYS. The huge bay windows with stained glass windows immediately stole my heart. I was instantly inspired and wanted to find a way to get in there and start creating. Danielle, the owner of Atrium 82, was using the space for a fitness studio pre-pandemic, and then pivoted during COVID towards intimate events for micro weddings and elopements. Once Danielle was on board, it was a matter of fine tuning the vision.

The Vision

From there, I started imagining what this intimate Brooklyn elopement would look like. I pictured luxurious details, textures, and colors. The palette came straight from the stained glass windows: peach, blush, touches of yellow, green, and white. I even went with Miriam Bloom, our floral queen, to the flower market the day before the shoot to hand pick every flower that went into the design. It was important to me that the design was created with intention. We brought in soft and delicate flowers in the color scheme that exuded a cheerful summer day. I had also worked with Rachel Zuch for our paper goods, which served as the base for the design.

The Looks

Our models, Kaitlyn and Carolyn, are a real couple and actually clients of mine! They’ll be getting married in Fall 2024, and I can’t wait to celebrate them for real soon. I found the perfect suit for Kaitlyn on ASOS with art nouveau flowers embroidered in gold. It was kismet when I was later plotting with our veil designer, Janesse Russel, and she pulled out the most perfect champagne gold veil. For Carolyn, I was thrilled to partner with one of my favorite bridal shops, Carol Hannah, to feature their Lutosa gown. She also wore one of Russel’s veils with a subtle floral print. To finish off their looks, we used Goldpoint BK’s wedding rings and accessories for extra sparkle.

For an added bonus, we also photographed a little party scene- because who says you can’t party at an elopement? Firework Photo Booth came in with their sleek booth and gorgeous backdrops and we all had a little dance party after a quick wardrobe change.
